The enclosure panel includes both broad visible surfaces and multiple openings. During design-for-manufacturability (DFM) review, the mold design needs to account for draft, nominal wall thickness, parting line location, gate placement, and any ribs or mounting features shown in the customer's CAD model. These choices affect molded appearance, dimensional consistency, and how the part interfaces with the front cover and hardware.
For this type of project, the drawing should identify the dimensions that control assembly: the position and size of fastening holes, the profile of critical cutouts, and any faces that set the cover gap. A general plastic-part tolerance cannot replace requirements for these specific features. After molding, representative parts can be trial fitted with the mating components so that interference or visible misalignment is addressed before the shipment is packed.
Painting gives the ABS housing the specified final appearance, but coating buildup can change a close-fitting interface or narrow an opening. The visible faces, target color and sheen, paint-free areas, and appearance acceptance criteria should therefore be agreed before finishing. Where a mating face, hole, or fastening feature requires protection, masking can be specified in the finishing plan.
The painted parts are checked for agreed cosmetic defects and for fit at the defined assembly interfaces. Color approval should be based on an approved physical sample or another agreed standard when appearance is critical. The exact paint system, coating thickness, adhesion requirements, and inspection method depend on the customer's specification.
This order also included the mating front cover and metal parts. YS Rapid coordinated their fit with the molded and painted housing and arranged for the components to ship together. Parts can be labeled and packed by part number or by build set according to the purchase order, helping an engineering team identify the components needed for its build.
A fit check means testing the specified interfaces with representative mating parts. It does not imply that every shipped unit was fully assembled. If complete assembly, installed hardware, or 100% fit verification is required, those operations should be stated in the RFQ and quoted separately.
Send us the 3D CAD files and 2D drawings for the housing and mating components, the required order quantity, and the target paint color and finish. Please identify critical dimensions, visible cosmetic surfaces, coating keep-out areas, and whether you need a sample fit check, hardware installation, or complete assembly. If you have an approved color sample or packaging instructions, include those as well.
YS Rapid can review the complete part set and quote custom ABS injection molding, painting, fit checking, and coordinated shipment for your low-volume electronics enclosure build.
Upload your 3D and 2D drawings to us, and a quotation will be provided to you within 24 hours. Also our sales engineer will contact you directly regarding your rapid prototype and cnc machinery parts quote to ensure you have received the quotation and to answer your questions.
